Sheila Murray

Sheila’s passion for food can be traced back to the food-stained Betty Crocker’s Boys and Girls Cookbook she pored over as a child, whipping up new, great-sounding recipes for her family. She was also an avid Easy Baker, until the fateful day she baked her small plastic purse in the oven. It burned, and so did the oven. But her career in food had just ignited.

Fast forward 35 years and Sheila can still be found poring over cookbooks (and magazines, newspapers and web sites) to whip up delicious recipes for her own family and stay abreast of food industry trends for business clients.

Sheila’s love of all things food propelled her on a 20-plus-year career in journalism and food marketing. She held senior-level account management positions at leading large and boutique public relations agencies, helping food clients land on the pages of magazines and newspapers, including Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, Good Housekeeping, Ladies’ Home Journal and Better Homes & Gardens to name a few. Her news writing background also helped her secure client placements on national and local TV and radio programs across the country. She has managed consumer promotions, issues management, community relations and Hispanic media relations programs for dozens of food brands and commodity boards.

She also understands retail operations, having worked in the public relations department of Nob Hill Foods supermarket chain. She also helped launch and served as a contributing writer for Raley’s award-winning in-store magazine, Something Extra.

Sheila became a quick study on web marketing as e-commerce swept the nation, writing web content and product descriptions for various websites. She is currently a freelance writer. Sheila has won national awards for her PR programs and writing, and her articles have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines. She holds a B.A. in communications with a minor in home economics and nutrition from California State University, Chico. And she can proudly say that her daughters have become proficient with their own Easy-Bake Oven.
